Desuperheaters
In every refrigeration system, energy must be released into a system or environment with a lower temperature level than the condensation temperature, except in the case of superheating, where heat is transported through energy flow. Sometimes it is useful to be able to cool down the discharge gas from the refrigeration system compressor before it enters the condenser.
It is possible and attractive to recover this energy for use in other processes or systems, e.g for floor heating, room heating, heating water for cleaning etc. During this heat recovery there is often partial condensation when the recovered heat may be less than the total available condensation capacity. Usually, the heat exchanger is arranged so that the discharge gas flows into the shell side, with the secondary medium on the plate side.
Additionally, Vahterus offers a solution where the desuperheater is integrated into the same shell as the condenser. Read more about Vahterus PSHE Multi-Condenser here.
