PSHE is a Fully Customised Solution
We design all our heat exchangers individually to meet customer-process requirements. The design starts with a thermal calculation, from which we obtain the required heat-transfer surface area, which is then combined with the shell design. This is the greatest difference between Vahterus Plate & Shell Heat Exchangers and other plate heat exchangers: the shell design is not fixed, and can be adjusted to create the perfect match for your needs.
The plate pack location can be moved inside the shell, for example, to enable more space for evaporating gas.
There is also the possibility to use large shell-side connections for high-volume gas flows.
Or to accommodate a condensate receiver with the required service connections. The receiver can be either totally integrated or a separate vessel.
Possibilities with Flow Directors
The function of the flow directors is to create optimal flow through the plates. The standard angle α of the axial flow directors is 90°. In condensers, an angle of 45° is used as a standard solution. For specific applications, i.e. low Δp applications, α < 90° might be helpful. In some circumstances, no flow directors are used, for example in Vahterus PSHE kettle-type evaporators. For unit type C, flow directors are turned through 90° (see below).
Of course, we also have standard solutions to make the design phase shorter and thus reduce delivery times. Such technical solutions can either be used without modification, or treated as a starting point for your customised heat-exchanger solution.
