Cascade Condensers

Vahterus Cascade Condensers are often installed on the intermediate and high-pressure side of a refrigeration system. The main reason for this is normally to reject the condensation heat and sometimes fully recover the rejected heat into heat-pump systems. In high-stage cascade condensers the energy can be utilised for heat-pump systems to deliver much higher temperatures, for exanple 90°C for district heating etc.

In many other applications, like many two-stage CO2 – NH3 systems, compressor discharge or recirculating gas flows into the cascade condenser and the heat load is then removed from a high-stage refrigeration system.
